- Leading the world's largest effort aimed at sequencing human, animal, and plant parasitic nematodes. Generated over 290,000 Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) from 32 nematode species and over 580,000 Genome Survey Sequences (GSSs) from the two main soil-transmitted helminths, hookworm and Ascaris. Initiated and currently lead the major programme on decoding the genomes of 10 parasitic nematodes. Funding provided by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease at NIH., National Human Genome Research Institute at NIH, National Science Foundation, the Max Planck Institute, and the British Medical Research Council.
